Dreams

By Mr.Bushido

Woah, it’s been a long time since my last post.  Now I’m going to post about my life and dream. I’ll throw in some pictures of my dream house too.  Okay, here goes.

Many times I’ve been asked “What do you want to be when you grow up?”.  I’d usually reply with “I not quite sure yet.”

Yesterday, while having dinner with my uncle and his family from Kuching at Pan Pacific hotel, my uncle asked me that same question. And when I gave my usual reply. He said “Well, you’re going to be 17 soon.  It’s about time you start thinking.”

It hit me. In just a few years time I would be joining the workforce. What is it that I want to do? What is it that I can do?

My uncle started talking to me about his life. He told me he was just an average student in Kuching with average grades and an average-income family. But what made him special was his dream. He wanted to be a doctor. He said his peers would always discourage him, saying that even people in the more affluent countries like America have difficulties getting into medicine, what more an average Kuching Boy?

But my uncle never let those remarks get to him. He held on to his dream and went to study medicine overseas in Japan. And became one of the first few foreign neurosurgeons practicing there.  Few years later, he married a Japanese wife and started a family.

I know this sounds a little cheesy, but I have great respect for this uncle. He overcame all the odds and made his dream a reality.

So, what is my dream? Until now, I didn’t have the courage to tell others. I was always too afraid that people would laugh at me. I was afraid that they would  say that it’s impossible for someone like me. I tell you this,  I’m not hiding anymore. I want to work in the health care sector. My goal’s to get into either medicine or dentistry.

I know its not going to be easy, but I’m going to hold on to that dream. I’m going to work hard and hopefully my hard work together with some luck will bring me to where I want to be. Then maybe I’ll be able to afford a house like this. ^^;

What is your dream?
